ClassDojo - Classroom Management Tool - It's for free

I was attending a workshop for the new school that I have joined and I came across ClassDojo. I would be a Grade 7 teacher. I still have to explore the app and the website in detail. But I think it is decent classroom management tool. It has avatars, skill points for you to give as a teacher, and more. Please, all teachers are recommended to see it and please tell me what you can use it for.

MatthewPatrick13 YouTuber = Science Learning + Video Games

I highly recommended seeing videos of MatthewPatrick13, especially if you enjoy seeing gaming YouTube videos. One of my students recommended me this YouTube channel. It already had a lot of videos, I think 420 or so. If you do enjoy, please tell younger kids who are into gaming and not do their school work, or even if they are doing their school work.

Learning the process of how things are made and function is crucial in understanding. It will also develop their critical thinking skills. Have a good day!

Thanks F for sharing, the YouTube channel, I really like it.

Opportunity for Students to Try IXL

IXL is one of the most comprehensive and popular sites on the internet to learn Maths. IXL in its own words "With an unlimited number of problems in over 4500 skills, your children will always have something new and exciting to practice on IXL".

If any student wants to try IXL.com, write your name in the comment, and I will generate a username for you. I have signed up for a teacher's account and I can give you full access to the website for a month.

If you are in 10th grade or 11th grade and enjoying your summer break, use this time to buy course books for future classes and see which topics you can cover with IXL.

The first week is about to finish

I have been allotted to teach three classes of First year and one class of Second year. So far the experience is okay. I hope all of those interacting with me can become independent in their lives.

I teach English, so they have a desire to learn it but they are not interested in putting in the effort. The Engineering class seems dedicated enough.

The date for NOP-LUMS has passed. NOP stands for National Outreach Program, basically you get free education in LUMS.

Other interesting things include:
There might be a trip going to Neelum Valley though I proposed something else.

This is what I proposed, the whole message.

"Dear Sir,

Wikipedia's photography competition require entries for heritage sites in Pakistan. Here's the page
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wiki_Loves_Monuments_Pakistan ($2500 prize money).

Can we combine our trip for boys or even girls, a one day trip to some famous heritage site in Punjab or even Lahore, and ask students to take pictures and submit it here.

Wikipedia is offering $2500 travel expenses. And prizes at national and international level. Last date is the last of September. It's a yearly competition.

Another suggestion for trip is to book, the Lahore double decker bus. And make every student enjoy his/her own Lahore.

Regards,
English Teacher
Ali ..."

I don't think my idea would be approved. But still, what can I do. I had to contribute in what I truly believe can be beneficial.

There are many students in the class that are interested in a lot of things. M is interested in creating his own setup related to dairy, and others are interested in going in web development or joining some famous company. While others are interested in joining the top most schools.

I have asked the students to not create any noise in the class. If they are disturbed because of whatever reason, they can excuse themselves and put their heads down, or talk silently while sit in the corner. I do not want to disturb who is mentally not willing to put effort into being in the class. And I cannot go into each and every reason, because the strength of every class is around 30-40.

I teach 4-5 lectures daily, and it is very tiring to speak continously. So, this strategy might work. It did work.

Plus, my strategy is to teach 3 days and revise (without explicitly saying) whatever I have taught for the next three days. In the revision session, students get to watch relevant course related videos, plus videos that might be useful to improve their English and help them keep themselves motivated.

It's 7.09 am, and college starts at 8.20 am, and I have to reach it before 8.15 am. So, have a nice day, keep your energies up, don't take life serious, work hard and smart. Have faith in your abilities.

Stay away from drugs!
